There is more to a great erotic romance than just romance and eroticism.

Sales figures tell us that readers love eroticism in their romances, yet those same sales figures tell us that readers are often willing to forgo the deep emotion of more traditional romances in favor of more erotic content. But does increasing the level of eroticism in a romance novel necessarily mean that the novel has to be less emotionally compelling?

Some would think yes, but at Black Velvet Seductions we think not. In fact, we think that increasing the level of eroticism in a romance can actually pave the way for a broader, more interesting story with an increased level of romance and emotional intensity. We don’t believe that readers should ever have to choose between traditional romances that deliver an emotional punch and erotic romances that deliver a physical one. We believe that readers should be able to have their cake and eat it too. We believe that they should be able to have emotional intensity, eroticism, and romance all within one book.

It is our attention to infusing even our most erotic books with emotion and romance that sets our books apart and earns us reviews like this one for “Toy’s Story: Acquisition of a Sex Toy” by Robert Cloud.

David, the hero, is not your usual romance type.  He is a large, pot-bellied kind of a guy who has so much emotional baggage to carry that when he finds Doreen, the reader is applauding at his good luck.  The reader will go through every emotional nuance with him, his joys, his love, his lust, his deep disappointment, and his feelings of betrayal.  This reviewer was already crying by page 67.” --Valerie a reviewer at Love Romances.
